TLC SCARF – Adventures in Twill, Lyocell, and Color
A next step weaving class for someone who has taken the beginning weaving course and would like to move on to finer threads.
4 shaft loom and yarns are provided.
“What’s lyocell?” you ask. It’s Tencel, a smooth, lustrous fiber that has magnificent drape, is breathable and warm, and is perfect for a handwoven scarf.
“What’s TLC?” you ask. In this class, we’ll hold your hand as you choose from one of three different twill threadings, any number of twill treadlings, and COLOR!
We’ll cover some basics of color theory as it applies to handwovens.
You’ll choose which twill scarf you want to make. Then you’ll choose your colors for the warp stripes – just two or up to ten.
We’ll wind our warps in class, thread our looms, begin by sampling from various treadlings, hemstitch the beginning of your scarf, and then you’ll weave it off at home.
At the end, you'll twist your fringe, and we'll demonstrate finishing techniques so you can take your scarf home, wash it, dry it, and iron it.
